WSET textbooks at Atelier del Vino: three books, and the one I would keep

The three WSET wine textbooks are now available at Atelier del Vino, Grande Passione's home in Verona. An Introduction to Wine, the Level 1 book, covers the essentials, while Wines: Looking Behind the Label, the Level 2 book, explores the principal grape varieties, regions, and styles in greater depth. Both offer a structured way to build your knowledge, whether you are studying for a qualification or simply following your curiosity.

The one I recommend most is Understanding Wines: Explaining Style and Quality, the Level 3 textbook, and you do not need to enrol in a course to benefit from it. It brings together the major grapes and regions with the ideas that explain why wines taste as they do. Its real value lies in how it connects the vineyard and the winery to the glass, showing how climate, growing conditions, and cellar choices shape style and quality across still, sparkling, and fortified wines.

If you were to own just one wine textbook, this would be my choice. It rewards careful reading and becomes a reference you return to as you taste, travel and discover new wines.

All three books are in English and can be bought individually, with no course enrolment required. Explore the books in our shop. Collection is by appointment at Atelier del Vino in Verona: once your order is paid, we will contact you to arrange a day and time that suits you.
