knights of alba in hong kong

on monday night, i went to the 5th chapter of the knights of the truffle and the wines of alba which has it own grand master and spirtitual home here in hong kong.

at this moment in hong kong, we are 27 knights who swore to defend and sing the praises of the most sought after delicacies of the alba region which are the truffle and its wines.  our grand master, john dibble is doing a fantastic job with his passion and enthusiasm for the wine, the foods and its people.

this week, we had a typical piedmontese menu which emphasized the white truffle and accompanied with a nice and elegant arneis, a dolcetto d'alba, three barbaresco, and with our desert was a very delightful moscato.

l' 'ordine dei cavalieri del tartufo e dei vini di alba' (click on hyperlink for website) exists since 1967 and was founded in the beautiful castle of grinzane cavour in the middle of the langhe hills of piedmont in italy.  today, it boasts over 300 members in europe, america, argentina, and hong kong.

members in hong kong are from all kinds of background and includes important hong kong food & wine personalities. it's home is at the crown cellars and we meet at least 4 times per year.

a great activity to watch out for is a charity event that will be organised to auction the wine that the knights imported in a barrique all the way from piedmont and bottled especially here in hong kong to make it our very own.  judging from teh quality of the samples tasted in our last dinner, the wine will be absolutely fabulous and certainly good to keep for many years.
